Calyxt, formerly the plant sciences department of gene editing giant Cellectis, is working to be a leader in providing value-added ingredients to the food industry, derived from crops developed with genome editing. While much of the industry is swept up in the desire to use and refine CRISPR tools, Calyxt has quietly and methodically continued using TALENs, an older but still highly capable approach to editing crop genomes.
