Engie to install smart building tech for COVID-19 lab, but doesn't push any boundaries

Engie Solutions has announced that it is working with AI/cloud computing company Group 42 and genomics company BGI, which jointly run a lab that claims it is capable of testing for thousands of COVID-19 instances in a day. Engie is providing a smart building solution for the lab in order to help it maintain Biosafety Level (BSL) 3. BSLs are descriptions of containment measures necessary for microbiological work based upon "infectivity, severity of disease, transmissibility, and the nature of the work conducted." At BSL 3, air cannot be recirculated in a lab, and so the building must continually push fresh air and pull potentially infectious air.
