Description

The holy grail of the energy transition is a completely decentralized grid – widespread rooftop solar, home batteries, and other distributed energy resources creating local power. Consumer adoption of these technologies removes the need for large-scale power plants, and threatens the century-old utility business model. Recent innovations such as energy trading platforms within microgrids makes a decentralized future technically possible, but how close are we to a cost-effective distributed grid? This webinar will discuss the results of recent computational modelling, which provides a clear assessment of the current costs for distributed energy, and identifies which regions around the world are on the chopping block for disruption.
