As Research Director at Lux Research, Ross runs global research practices in materials, manufacturing, sustainability, and corporate strategy-related verticals. Ross leads Lux’s Accelerating Materials Innovation research group, managing teams of analysts responsible for providing technology scouting, strategic advice, and advanced analytics on disruptive technologies across consumer products, mobility, healthcare, electronics, and energy applications.
During his career at Lux, Ross developed and launched new research areas assessing how innovations at the intersection of materials science, digital innovations, and big data (e.g. artificial intelligence in materials design, 3D printing, part design and manufacturing software) are disrupting industries. He has led several new initiatives related to enhancing client engagement and new business development.
Prior to joining Lux Research, Ross’ career has focused on working towards commercialization of emerging technologies in the renewable energy and electronic materials sectors. Ross previously worked as a chemical engineer at the solar thin film startup Solexant and specialty chemical manufacturer Polysciences. Ross holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a B.S.E. with high honors in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, with certificates in Materials Science and Finance.
