Commercialization challenges can be caused by business model mismatches

TripleO develops hydrophobic coatings based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) dispersed in an acrylic resin. The company targeted commercialization in the aerospace sector as a topcoat deployed on existing protective and decorative coating systems. TripleO acted as a both a material manufacturer and a service provider, coordinating contractors to coat planes while they were out of service. In 2015, tripleO signed easyJet and British Airways as its first customers, but commercialization efforts stalled after that.
