Halliburton deploys dissolvable frack plugs for reducing milling costs in "plug and perf" job in Argentina

August 02, 2018 | Case Study

"Plug and Perf" is the primary technique employed today for multistage fracking. It entails the placement of multiple bridge plugs, frack plugs, and a perforation (perf) guns in the wellbore. Once the different stages in the wellbore are fracked and completed, an intervention is performed to drill/mill out the plugs for production to begin. Outside milling costs, the intervention requires mobilizing a coiled tubing unit, adding additional day rates in the $10,000/day to $40,000/day range.
