Alliance HealthCare distributed temperature-sensitive drugs across Europe, primarily to its 16,000 retail sites, such as pharmacies, doctors, and hospitals, through its 288 distribution centers without a cold chain monitoring solution. These centers moved an estimated 2.2 million units of medical goods a day while also independently monitoring these drugs to meet the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) compliance standards. However, this process was inefficient because each center managed the delivery planning and monitoring process differently, with many using offline, manual-read temperature monitoring that led to many drugs, such as temperature-sensitive insulin, losing compliance.
