LG Corporation is a $54 billion conglomerate – one of South Korea's largest multinational conglomerates. The group includes more than a dozen divisions. In this case study, we will focus on two in particular that exemplify LG's push toward factories that use big data and other digital transformation techniques like deep learning: One is its LG Electronics division, whose products range from mobile phones to home appliances and which makes up the largest share of LG's overall revenues. The other is the LG CNS division, which provides IT services, platforms, and consulting services. Although LG CNS only makes up a small fraction of LG's overall profits, its $3 billion yearly revenue still makes it an IT powerhouse in South Korea and a noteworthy player within its niche.
