IDE Technologies boosts recovery of brackish water desalination, but consumes additional energy

IDE Technologies recently introduced a new desalination technology, MAXH₂O, to increase recovery and thereby reduce brine reject of brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) plants. Similar to Desalitech's closed-circuit desalination (CCD) system, it recirculates RO concentrate to the feed in semibatch operation while continuously withdrawing the permeate and releases the brine until a desired recovery is achieved.
