Gazprom Neft expands use of digital twin technology after successful upstream deployment

March 18, 2019 | Case Study

Gazprom Neft, a subsidiary of Gazprom, which is the third-biggest oil producer in Russia, launched a digital twin for monitoring mechanical fluid lifting at one of its three upstream facilities in November 2017. The digital twin integrated existing predictive maintenance solutions with mathematical models of equipment and processes. Following its success, Gazprom Neft is launching digital twins at its remaining upstream sites. The company has also created digital twins for its downstream facilities, a decision that aligns with its 2030 digital transformation strategy for integrating operations management across the entire value chain based on analyses of big data, predictive maintenance, use of digital twins, and artificial intelligence.
