Generative design (GD) startup nTopology gets another $20 million boost for pushing its CAD-independent GD platform

July 23, 2019 | Case Study

GD software uses artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to create optimized design options. When it comes to engineering design, the output is usually a part design with better features, such as light weight, higher strength, and enhanced functionality. When combined with 3D printing and cloud computing, it can dramatically improve design efficacy and can enable engineers to create various design options faster. While there are a handful of GD startups and we have seen a few acquisitions, the space is still ripe for innovation. Additionally, market interest is continually growing, thanks to 3D printing, AI, and cloud computing.
