Rosborg Greenhouse uses OnRobot grippers to automate herb packaging

September 10, 2019 | Case Study

The Rosborg Greenhouse in Odense, Denmark, grows mint, dill, tarragon, miniature roses, and other small delicate plants. Rosborg is a small company with 130 employees that cultivates, packs, and sells 40 million herbs and other flowering plants a year. As demand increased among its customers in the restaurant and retail industry, the company decided to automate many of the repetitive tasks that employees took part in. One of these tasks involved placing herbs and flowers into a cardboard box. The company needed to find a robotic gripper that was gentle enough to handle the plants without crushing them and also versatile enough to be easily reprogrammed for different product lines.
