3i-Print project showcases automotive part consolidation with increased functionality using product simulation and 3D printing

3i-Print is a research project exploring the potential of 3D printing in the automotive industry. The project brought six technology and manufacturing companies together and realized a new additively manufactured front-end structure for a Volkswagen Caddy Youngtimer. The research was completed about two years ago in nine months, and the 3D-printed front-end component showcased some benefits of additive manufacturing.
