Micreos' bacteriophage-based solutions effectively combat pathogens in food safety applications

February 04, 2020 | Case Study

Dutch company Micreos develops bacteriophage-based products for food safety and human health applications. For food safety applications, the company commercializes three bacteriophage products effective against E. coli O157, Salmonella, and Listeria under the PhageGuard brand. Of these, PhageGuard Listex is a phage-based product for Listeria monocytogenes and is used as a food processing aid for a variety of products, including ready-to-eat (RTE) meat, cheese, and seafood, as well as a surface cleaning aid in food processing plants. The company sells Listex to ready-to-eat meat producers, and the application usually involves spraying food-contact surfaces with Listex prior to sealing the food product into the package.
