Siemens and Citrine collaborate to digitally integrate functions of material and part development

In February 2021 materials informatics leader Citrine Informatics and Siemens Digital Industries Software, a business unit of Siemens, announced a partnership to develop digital solutions for the chemicals, materials, and manufacturing industries. As a part of this partnership, Siemens’ Simcenter software, a portfolio of predictive product simulation and testing tools, will be able to work with Citrine platform enabling users to simulate product or process performance using material design as a key variable. Historically material engineering has been done outside the traditional simulation process, and this partnership incorporates multi-discipline and bi-directional engineering approach into a single process. Though it’s not clear when and how Siemens and Citrine will deploy their integrated solutions to the market, apparently users (especially the developers of materials and products) will need to subscribe to solutions from both Siemens and Citrine for deployment in their internal IT environment.
