Despite the maturity of CO2-to-concrete technology and the performance benefits of CO2-cured concrete, success in the industry continues to be challenging due to inhibitory regulatory mechanisms for approval of new building materials. However, there is growing momentum, and more players are joining the space with various technologies. A team at the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR), Singapore's lead public-sector R&D agency for open innovation, has been developing a novel low carbon mineralization technology. Lux recently had a chance to sit down with Bu Jie and Leonard Chia who are working on a novel CCU technology for low carbon mineralization in A*STAR's Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES) division.
