Snap releases Spectacles 4 AR glasses for developers and prototyping

July 06, 2021 | Case Study

To speed up the adoption of a new product, its function needs to be familiar to prospective consumers and more valuable than that of the closest incumbents. E-books provide a functionally similar experience to paper books but carry much more information. Mobile phones connect like landlines but impart freedom and additional features, while touch screens and app stores turbocharged smartphone functionality and obsoleted phones with hard keys. Similarly, the move from mobile augmented reality (AR) experiences toward AR glasses with hands-free immersive experiences will require the hardware product to host AR apps and enable such experiences. Moreover, vendors will need a "killer app" to generate interest and attract consumers.
