Predatory insects like Phytoseiulus persimilis have been part of integrated pest management strategies since the 1960s to control spider mites. But issues of production and delivery can complicate commercial application of predatory insects. Traditional P. persimilis products are based on behavioral manipulation: The adult mites are starved prior to harvest so they will take longer to establish themselves and start reproducing. BioBee's BioPersi+ sachet contains eggs, juveniles, and adults to provide a continuous supply of mites, enabling control for a longer period. In addition, mites change color from white to red-orange as they start feeding, providing visual proof of predation for the growers.
