3D bioprinting has been hailed as an on-demand solution for the manufacturing of structured, cell-based meat products, with Aleph Farms emerging as an early leader from a technology and investment perspective. The company has attempted to build a platform that is suitable for producing meat products on land and even explored the dynamics in outer space. Newly disclosed patents relating to novel compositions of expressed collagen have also become public, potentially hinting at future business plans. In 2021, in collaboration with Technion University of Israel, it unveiled the world’s first cell-based rib-eye steak produced by 3D bioprinting. The company continues to raise funding to create a distributed mass-scale manufacturing network for its bioprinted steak and whole-muscle cuts.
