Schneider Electric plans to acquire the American distributed energy resources management software (DERMS) platform AutoGrid, enabling it to provide new software capabilities, primarily to manage such resources as residential and utility-scale batteries, rooftop solar, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and utility-scale renewable energy farms. But this partnership is really about scaling to new geographies as AutoGrid and Schneider Electric have been working together since 2013; moreover, back in 2019, Schneider Electric had shown interest in AutoGrid, acquiring 10% of AutoGrid's stake. Clients should expect the acquisition of DERMS platforms that offer management of multiple types of assets from large energy corporations as more DER are deployed worldwide.
