Autodesk generatively design part assemblies for NASA's interplanetary landers

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is working with Autodesk to generatively design part assemblies for its landers. This might be the only example of generative design being used for part assemblies as most cases are still on single part design. Design for part assemblies marks a milestone in the generative design space as it not only requires more computing power to represent, design, model, and simulate a structure; but also requires new algorithm development to accommodate the vastly increasing degrees of freedom. This case is interesting as it allows us to take a peek into the future of generative design.
