Clara Foods raises Series B and strikes partnership with Ingredion

Clara Foods (Lux Take: Monitor) has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in a Series B round led by Ingredion. It also announced a development and global distribution partnership with Ingredion for commercializing its animal-free egg white proteins. While this fundraising round was announced almost three years after its Series A round, the recent momentum puts the company back in the race to commercialization. Although achieving cost parity is still a key challenge in the production of acellular products, recent developments from Geltor, Perfect Day, and Clara Foods as well as the involvement of industry players like ADM and Ingredion reconfirm the near-term opportunities in the cellular agriculture space.
