Q-CTRL raises $15 million to reduce errors in quantum computers

Q-CTRL develops firmware for the identification and mitigation of noise and errors in quantum computers (QCs), a prevalent problem in this early stage of the technology (see the Tech Page). However, Q-CTRL's product will not completely solve the issue of the highly unstable qubit and enable fully fault-tolerant QCs; that goal likely requires millions of error-correcting qubits on a processor (which is years away). Rather, the company's software will enable researchers today to push early-stage quantum computers a little bit further, allowing for algorithms that can assume a slightly lower level of error. While Q-CTRL will be helpful to hardware and algorithm developers, application-focused clients can safely ignore this company.
