EVgo and Uber signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aiming to give Uber drivers access to charge their electric vehicles (EVs) using EVgo's fast-charging network, which, according to the company, includes more than 1,200 DC fast chargers in 750 locations. The companies also aim to identify suitable locations for future fast-charger installations and implement pilot programs to promote adoption of EVs among Uber drivers. Similarly to PG&E's partnership with Lyft, this move will increase utilization rate of EVgo's fast-chargers; however, it is likely to be at its own expense. EVgo's strategy is to gain access and be well-positioned to service ride-hailing EV drivers, which will become EVgo's main type of customer in the coming years.
