Very important

The Israeli startup develops a novel design for water electrolysis. It decouples hydrogen and oxygen generation, resulting in an efficiency of up to 93% – this is achieved by substituting electrical energy with thermal energy for oxygen evolution, such that all electricity input to the system is dedicated to hydrogen production only. BEV's involvement is in line with its interest in energy technologies with highly disruptive potential but still largely conceptual; however, decoupling is gaining momentum in both water and CO2 electrolysis, and we expect the concept to gain wider prominence in future electrolysis technologies.
