Led by DCVC and Temasek and joined by 10 other previous participants, the Series D catapults Pivot back into the lead for biological nitrogen fixation innovations following Azotic's funding and international expansion plans last week. Pivot will look to capture as much of the North American market as possible – it currently covers around 1% of the U.S. corn market – but will add international opportunities and build out wheat and sorghum. Expect Latin America and Asia to be core parts of those plans. Pivot claims improved performance of product iterations from 20 lb to 40 lb per acre of nitrogen replaced. At $0.40/lb, that equates to $16 per acre and 50% N reduction. Clients, Pivot and others now have legs for global penetration.
