Reorganizing Focus of Sustainable Building Materials: Existing and Emerging Hot Spots

December 22, 2015 | State of the Market Report

Sustainable Building Materials (SBM) service has profiled 353 companies in 37 technology categories in the past three years. This report summarizes the SBM content by technology categories in a quantified way, identifies five hot spots (including architectural coating, building insulation, sustainable concrete, window and daylighting, and circular economy) among these categories, and analyzes innovation outlook of specific technologies in these hot spots. Moreover, this report reflects the emerging fields that SBM hasn’t allocated content to , but should in the future (for example ,air purification, 3D printing for building and construction, as well as innovative building fabrication and demolition). Finally, together with the existing hot spots and the fields SBM should have, this report reorganizes SBM’s future research into three topics (sustainability, well-being, and innovative fabrication) and explains how key technologies will fit into each of these three topics.
