Technologies Turn Waste into Profit

April 12, 2010 | State of the Market Report

The view on wastewater, and more specifically sewage sludge, is shifting from seeing it simply as something in need of disposal to a view of it as a resource that can be recycled and reused. In the case of sewage sludge, it’s a matter of extracting value in the form of energy, phosphorus, or other nutrients and materials to offset operating costs and minimize the volume of sludge requiring disposal. We assessed a range of technologies that are commercially available or under development to determine which technologies provide the best value propositions for companies and developers interested in entering the energy and resource recovery market.
