Zinc-air Batteries
Zinc-ion batteries featuring porous air cathodes, typically used for long-duration storage.
LUX TAKE:
Zinc-air batteries remain the lowest-cost option for stationary storage discharge durations over 16 hours due to the low bill of materials. Low efficiencies and limited cycle life are limiting factors to commercial adoption, but as the long-duration energy storage landscape expands to need interday power supply, zinc-air batteries are one of the more promising available technologies.
