Heat pumps are a reliable and efficient alternative for heating and cooling in buildings and for waste heat recovery and (cryogenic) refrigeration for industry. As such, heat pumps will be a key part of building and industrial electrification. Higher-temperature applications like steam generation are promising developments but are not yet commercially available.
